Canada’s first and only female Prime Minister
Join UBC Alumni Affairs for an inspirational afternoon as the Right Honorable Kim Campbell returns to her alma mater to sit down in conversation with CBC Journalist and Adjunct Professor at the UBC School of Journalism, Kathryn Gretsinger.
At UBC, Dr. Campbell studied Political Science, then Law, and was the first female president of a freshman class – just a hint at the groundbreaking career to follow. Before becoming Prime Minister, she was Canada’s first female Minister of Justice and Attorney-General and first female Minister of National Defence. Among her many accolades, Campbell is an Honorary Fellow of the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and was recently appointed a Companion of the Order of Canada. In 2009, she received the UBC Alumni Award of Distinction.
The event will take place on Tuesday, November 30th from 12:30 – 1:30 PM at the Frederic Wood Theatre. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. RSVP by Friday, November 26, 2010. For more information contact Simmi Puri at communications@law.ubc.ca or 604-822-4172.
